About Project R.E.D.

Staff sponsor: Ms. Linda McKeage
Project RED started in the fall of 2004 when the staff was approached by the Department of Secondary Education to be part of a study that would look at Diversity and Multi-Racial Issues in a large urban and diverse school such as ours, Ross Sheppard High.  We took on the challenge!  The study has morphed into what is now called Project R.E.D., "Rejecting Racism, Embracing Equality, Demanding Diversity".  We have a student and staff group that work toward awareness campaigns, bringing in speakers and hosting activities.  In our 2006-07 year, Project R.E.D. hosted numerious campaigns and reached success in all of their hosted events. The Ghandi Youth Conference, Shareitage Days, and Peace Week are just a few that were greatly enjoyed by our student body, faculty, and welcomed guests.  The message of "Rejecting Racism, Embracing Equality, Demanding Diversity" has changed our school and has helped educate our fellow students and faculty to our growing diverse student body, as well as the different cultures each student celebrates at Ross Shep.
Our GOAL is to help our fellow Ross Sheppard students become part of the Global Community and honor each-others culture. Meetings on Mondays in Room 126.
